STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Met Foods will rise and shine extra early on Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Grasmere store. That’s when celebrity DJs Cubby & Carolina from 103.5 WKTU will broadcast live from 6 to 10 a.m.
The attention this morning is on the “Stuff-A-Truck” food drive. And, the Met Foods staff hopes patrons and its vendors provide enough edible donations to pack a tractor trailer completely. Product, in turn, will be shipped to the Food Bank of New York City. Items are intended for distribution through Project Hospitality on Staten Island.
“It is important for us to give where we can to those who may be having tough time,” said Bill Fani, president of Met Foods.
“Food Bank For New York City provides food to 1,000 charities and schools citywide,” said Food Bank of New York City spokeswoman Carol Schneider.
“Last year, we provided 64 million free meals to New Yorkers in need,” she said, adding, “We are thrilled to have this food drive benefit the folks on Staten Island where nearly 1 in 9 Staten residents is at risk of hunger.”
