Staten Island organizers kick-off 16th annual Dine Out Against Hunger event scheduled for April 10

She noted the difficulty of the loss of affordable housing in the borough after Hurricane Sandy has compounded the hunger issue here even more. “When you have more people needing housing then there is housing, the cost goes up and people are paying more to preserve a roof over their head and so they have less to put on the table,” she said.

That’s the simple clarion call for this year’s 16th annual Dine Out Against Hunger event, scheduled boroughwide for April 10.

“If there’s one thing I do well, your mom does well, and most of us here do well is eat,” said the Rev. Terry Troia, executive director of Project Hospitality, during the kick-off lunch Tuesday in the agency’s Community Services Center in Stapleton.   Read more on silive.com
